Cheah and Rifqah were the first two casualties when they lost unexpectedly to 10th seeded Jaron and 11th seeded Zhi Wei respectively in Round 2. Next, comes Dawson who lost to Nithyalakshmi in Round 4 where the latter get to setup a mouth watering clash against Yong Zhao. However, the game didn't produce a result with Bishop opposite-color endgame.
In the last round, Yong Zhao had a much easier opponent than Nithyalakshmi but Yong Zhao had failed to convert the full point for a 3-way tie with Dawson and Nithyalakshmi. She was rewarded with much superior tie-break count to be declared as Champion.
