2nd The Summit Juniors Open: Under-16 Result

This is the most demanding group at today's event with 6 players having National Rating above 1700. At the end of 6 grueling rounds, the Champion is 7th seeded Tan Wei Hao (NR 1686).

2nd The Summit Juniors Open: Under-14 Result

This group had 34 players led by Puteri Rifqah, Cheah Eason, Nithyalakshmi, Tan Yong Zhao and Dawson Tan with less than 100 rating points separating them.

Cheah and Rifqah were the first two casualties when they lost unexpectedly to 10th seeded Jaron and 11th seeded Zhi Wei respectively in Round 2. Next, comes Dawson who lost to Nithyalakshmi in Round 4 where the latter get to setup a mouth watering clash against Yong Zhao. However, the game didn't produce a result with Bishop opposite-color endgame.

In the last round, Yong Zhao had a much easier opponent than Nithyalakshmi but Yong Zhao had failed to convert the full point for a 3-way tie with Dawson and Nithyalakshmi. She was rewarded with much superior tie-break count to be declared as Champion.

2nd The Summit Juniors Open: Under-12 Result

Once again, Puteri Munajjah had showed us why she is a deserving NR 1700 player by winning 5 games in-a-row before settling for a draw to grab the title easily. Meanwhile, Teo Yi Yang, Chew Zi Xuan and Ryan Tey has played well to upset the formbook and thus join the prize winner list.

2nd The Summit Juniors Open: Under-7 Result

There were 27 players who turn-up for the event but after playing for 3 rounds, this youngest field just left with 24 players. It's probably too much chess for the three kids who withdrew themselves from the event.

Pre-tournament overwhelming favourite, Amir Faiz Amirul, just swept the field with a perfect score. While, Iskandal Haikal and Asia Moo had swapped places to finish 2nd and 3rd respectively.

There were 77 players who turn-up for the event. The strongest two players namely Faqih and Luqman Iskandar had played to their ratings seeding to finish 1st and 2nd respectively. Three players among the top 10 seeded didn't live up to their rating numbers and their places werereplaced by unrated Shreesh Amit Chembeti, Ivan Sean Yap and Timothy Chin.

Just like last year, this category always attract the least number of children. Could it be due to PMR? What happen to children who sat for PMR last year - Have they stop playing chess completely? A point to ponder.
