19th Kepong Juniors Open Chess Tournament: Final Results

The event was conducted successfully with 314 players turn-up in this edition. According to information we receive from Mdm. Goh, retired school teacher from SJK(C) Kepong 2 who are involved in this event since the inception in 1994, the number of players who paid their entrance fees but had failed to turn-up were the lowest in 19 years. Also, this edition had received the highest number of players registering to take part.

Scores of national players from Penang, Negeri Sembilan, Perak, Selangor and WP Kuala Lumpur took part to make this year edition the strongest edition in recent 10 years (at the very least). Besides the National players, there were many MSSM State players as well.

The Under-8 category also witnessed a record entry of 87 players registering of which 81 of them had showed up to compete. This Category also created another record by having the Youngest Player at the aged of 4 years 7 months 9 days.  Unlike the usual fare of having a clear cut winner, this category is so competitive until we saw a 5-way tie for 1st place.
