The Chess Association of Selangor once again successfully concluded the age-group competitions for the past two weekends which ended today. The series is now running in its 24th year. We have now included the Under-8 category this year attracting an encouraging 20 participants.
As usual these competitions are open to all, attracting players from other states including a Singaporean. For the records the Under-12 Champion was deservedly won by a Pahang player Meor Airil Rahimi who only dropped a 1/2 point in the last round against a 5-pointer to assure his top placing. The Under-8 winner Wong Zi Yue too was a clear winner with a full 7-pointer, In the Under-16 category Dilwen Ding pipped WFM Nur Najihah whom he beat in Round 5. He however dropped 1/2 point through a draw in Round 6 with 3rd placed Negeri Sembilan player Nithyalakshmi Sivanesan
