7th MBSSKL Open Chess Tournament

This event started @ 9.30am this morning with 182 participants taking part. Another 11 other players who have made payment failed to turn-up for the event. This year the Chess tournament is organized in conjunction with the School Family Day. More than 60 food stalls are occupying the school football field and volleyball court. In addition, there are games and merchandises on sale. The carnival-like atmosphere will last until 3pm.

The U-14 Boys category has attracted 80 players. Based on previous years outing, the Organiser has decided to extend the number of prizewinners to 15. All other categories will have top 6 finishers receive a prize at the end of the event. 


The tournament favorite for U-14 Boys is MBSSKL student Darrel Yap. The defending champion for this category, Tan Yong Zhao (12y.o.) from SJK(C) Kepong 2 has decided to move up and challenge the bigger boys in Under-23 category.
