MSSMKL Primary (Sentul Zone) 2013 Team Result

SJK(C) Kepong 2 begins a new chapter in chess (after the graduation of the last bastion like Tan Yong Zhao, Chua Yee Ler and Chew Zhi Jing to Secondary school) by securing both the Boys and Girls Team Championship in the just concluded team event today.

Despite there was some difficulties in the Boys category, the Team manages to retain the title after a having a slight superior BH tiebreak. They were tied on match point (9pts) and first tiebreak count game points (16pts) with SJK(C) Lai Chee. While, SK Taman Bukit Maluri has emerged as the Bronze medalist.

As for the Girls, the Team (exact team formation as per last year) has made much progress this year by winning against SK(P) Convent Sentul 1 (Defending Champion) in the Rd 4 to emerge as a clear-cut Champion. The best performer in this event goes to newcomer SJK(C) Kepong 3. This team just assemble 5 months ago (that's right) under parents' initiative. The parents have roped in Coach Lim to prepare their children for the Championship with a target of finishing top 6 in this zone. And now to a surprise of many schools, Kepong 3 for the first time in the team event has secured a good position (actual result to be verified later) including a 2-2 draw against Kepong 2 in Round 3

(updated @ 5pm) and followed by 3-1 thumping over Convent Sentul 1 in the last round (Rd 5). With these results, Kepong 3 has emerged as first runner-up in this event.

It's like a fairy-tale finishing for a newcomer in the scene. Will they become the next Kepong school to emerge as a chess powerhouse in future!?
