What happen to this year edition of Selangor Open? For the record, Chess Association of Selangor (CAS) will be celebrating the 39th anniversary of the Selangor Open if this event can be organised this year. As of last year, this oldest event was organised for 38 consecutive years and it would have been regarded as the impossible wish list of mad visionaries.
According to reliable source, the propose dates are from 1st May to 6th May 2012.
However, this event usually offers a prize fund of RM8,000/= (from the past few editions estimate) will need a working capital between RM 13,000/= and RM 15,000/= (inclusive of prize fund) to begin with. As of today, Venue sponsorship - Not forthcoming? Prize fund Sponsorship - RM 0.
Any well wisher who would like to contribute to the event, please contact Mr. Lim, Hon. Secretary of CAS @ 012-298 4922 or email to tsepin@gmail.com.

SJK(C) Lee Rubber too is Ruthless in Keramat Zone
After 2 days of competition, SJK(C) Lee Rubber demolishes all their opponents to record an identical 19points from 20 fames played. This joint-record setting pace will make this year MSSWP team final very interesting. Can the remaining 2 zones (i.e. pudu and Sentul) to be Champion up the ante by breaking the 19 points barrier?

MSSWP Keramat Zone (Primary Schools) Starts on Next Monday, 20th Feb
Within Wilayah Persekutuan (Peninsula), there exist 5 zones namely Bangsar, Keramat, Pudu, Sentul and lastly Putrajaya.
Its time for SJK(C) Lee Rubber leads by Ng Jen Sheng (WP No.1 U12 player in National Rating List) to showcase their chess skills again. Will it be a nightmare for other schools in this zone? OR Other schools able to put up a trick or two to stop SJK(C)Lee Rubber from winning both the Boys and Girls team title?

Who's the King and Queen for Bangsar Zone?
Bangsar zone has been searching for a dominant King and Queen for a very long time. In Sentul Zone, we have SJK(C) Kepong 2 who dominates the scene for many years. In Keramat Zone, we have SJK(C) Lee Rubber. Who do we have for Bangsar Zone?
The answer >>> SK Bukit Damansara as the new Queen, SK(L) Methodist KL as the new King. In this year edition, both schools have stamped their prowesses in the game(refer to the Individual Interim Ranking in my earlier posting).
SK Bukit Damansara students are leading in both U-10 and U-12 Girls categories. While, SK(L) Methodist KL has 6 players in the top 7 bracket of the U-12 Boys category. [Latest update @ 9.15am: Sean Ooi of SK(L) Methodist KL has captured the U-12 title.]

SK(L) Methodist KL ruthless win in MSSWP Bangsar Zone
The MSSWP calendar begins with the Inter-school Team for Bangsar Zone. After 2 days of competition, SK(L) Methodist swepts away all her 5 round competitors easily by scoring a thumping 18 wins and 2 draws. I believe this result is enough to go down in KL history as the Highest Scorer for the School Team Category of MSSWP.
Congrats to MBS parents, teachers and guru besar who put in the effort to support the Chess Training Excellence Programme aka CTEP run by Coach L all these years.
