2nd The Summit Juniors Open: Update#4 (Registration Closed)

At 4pm today, the Organiser of the tournament had decided to close all pre-registration channels into the event ahead of schedule by 1 week when the total number of registered names have reached 207 pax.  

On behalf of the Organiser, I would like to say a big Thank You to all parents and chess academies for the support given to this event. For those who have pre-registered yourselves but yet to make payment, please do so by 21st June (Friday). The Organiser WILL NOT accept entry fee on tournament day for such big-scale event (in term of participation numbers).

If you have missed the boat, you may consider enrolling yourself into the next two National rated-events i.e. MBSS Open on 6th July and 14th CAS Second Quarter Allegro on 7th July.

For those who are new to Rating Category concept, CAS Category 2 is meant for players with National Rating less than 1400 equivalent to a National U-8 Championship or National U-10 Championship without the strongest 4 national players. So, if you are aged 10 and below, this is THE Category to join in order to experience glimpse of how National Championship is like. Of course, you can also join if you are above 10 y.o. as long as your NR is less than 1400. There is 19 cash prizes awaiting 19 different players.

While, for those players who possess NR of at least 1400 especially children 12 y.o. and below will compete in Category 1 where you are able to accumulate more playing experience at higher level by meeting with some strong National Players. Also, participating in this category will allow you to obtain invaluable insight on how players better than you play their games. This experience is very important so that you can continue to dominate your Age-Group comes next year National Championships. Of course, you can also join if you are above 12 y.o. as long as your NR is NOT LESS than 1400. Just like Category 2, there is 19 cash prizes awaiting 19 different players in this Category 1.

2nd The Summit Juniors Open: Update#2 [Under-10 is closed for Registration]

Under-10 has received more than 70 pre-registered entries with another 10 Under-10 players on waiting list. Therefore, this category is closed for any further pre-registration. As for those who have pre-registered yourself but yet to make payment, you must make payment by 9th June (SUNDAY), else your place will be given away to players in the waiting list.  As for the unpaid players who are in the waiting list, you shall be upgraded to Under-12 if there is no seat make available to you after 9th June.

2nd The Summit Juniors Open: Update#1 [New Category, Under-07]

In view of an overwhelming response for the Under-10 category that I've received so far, a special request was made to the Organiser, Summit USJ, for them to consider creating a younger category, namely Under-7 Category.

This allows kindergarten children to compete among themselves alongside with Primary Year 1 students in this special category. The Organiser had agreed to award Medals and Certificates to top 10 finishers, however, there is no cash prizes for this special category.

Children born in the year 2006 or thereafter can now look forward to compete in this National-rated youngest chess age-group event in Malaysia. The time control and number of rounds for Under-7 Category will be the same as the rest of the categories advertised earlier. Children are required to play all 6 games.

As the Chief Arbiter, I look forward to welcome this new group of children taking part in this upcoming National-rated event. Many of them could be first-timer in a chess event. So, parents of this group of children must be at the tournament venue to look after your own children for the entire course of the event. Click here for more information on this National-rated chess event.

2nd The Summit Juniors Open on 30th June @ Summit USJ

The Organiser, The Summit USJ, has decided to continue to hold the Juniors Open Chess Tournament @ Summit USJ after a maiden success in last November. This one day tournament shall be divided into 4 categories namely Under-10, Under-12, Under-14 and Under-16 and more importantly will be a National-rated Event. The One and Only National-rated Event in Selangor on 30th June 2013.

These 4 categories shall have an accumulated cash prize of RM 2,000 to be distributed among 40 prizewinners. The Champion in each Category shall be receiving RM 150 Cash + Medal + Certificate of Achievements. The entry fee for each person is RM 15 only (Among the lowest entry fee charges for a National-rated event).

We accept limited entries only due to space constrain, so you need to pre-register yourself as quickly as possible by sending an email to tsepin@gmail.com stating down your name, H/P Number  and category that you wish to contest. All entries will be accepted based on "first comes first serve basis with payment received" followed by "first comes first serve basis on pre-registration".

CTEP (New Intake - 19th Oct 2013)

 

Dear Parents,

Would you like to see your children improve in calculation ability, develop logical thinking, inspire self-motivation, able to focus for a longer period in doing things, or perhaps represent our country in Chess?

I would like to inform that an ongoing new intake for children who chess playing ability is between National Rating 1000 and 1200 points. The chess class will be held on every Saturday from 5pm to 7pm. Venue: SS 14, Subang Jaya.
